The new policy effective May 10, 2023 allows cryptocurrency projects to run ads on these social media platforms if your company holds one of 27 approved licenses issued by various issued by international financial agencies.

These licenses include those issued by the following organizations:

• Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK

• Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in Hong Kong

• Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the United States

• Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

• Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)

• Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA)

• Ontario Securities Commission (OSC)

• Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA)

• Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA)

• Vietnam Monetary Authority (SBV)

Cryptocurrency companies without an approved license can still apply for approval by meeting additional requirements:

• You must be a registered business entity

• You must have a physical address

• You must have a privacy policy in place

• You may not make false or misleading claims in their advertising

• You may not target minors with your ads

• Run successful cryptocurrency advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram

How does Facebook review virtual currency ads?

The process of reviewing ads related to virtual currency includes 2 parts:

• Ad review: Our ad review system determines whether the ad falls within the scope of our virtual currency advertising policy.

• Ad account review: Once we determine that an ad is in scope, we check that the associated ad account has been approved to advertise virtual currency products and services.
